Hi!

My name is Jan, I’m coming from Czech republic and Im professional guide who is residing on Arctic archipelago called Svalbard (Norway).

For many years I’m trying to escape modern society and to find tranquility surrounded by wild nature. I left office 10 years ago and it was the most important decision in my life. I proved myself that I can make a living anywhere around the world. I also discovered that life can offer much more than stereotyped job 5 days a week. This modern ilussion is not allowing people to find their essence and pushing them into machine of modern society which I will never understand.

“I think that less is very often more so I pushed myself into discomfort which brings beautiful moments for those moments it is worth living.”

My Philosophy

In last few years I lived in car, Van or hut without running water in the middle of Arctic plains. What I got back are lifetime experiences.

I feel that nature is giving me much more than modern world. Svalbard where I’m living last 3 years gave me absolutely different perspective. Wild nature is overwhelming here and people must learn to respect it. Polar day and night is also something you must live through to understand it. I loved Canada and New Zealand, where I used to live before but Svalbard and High Arctic is just something else.

To experience life with pack of sled dogs, to see changing of light or have a close encounter with polar bear. Those are moments to remember. Forever
